How Covid 19 is affecting Google Impressions, Views, and Clicks

Covid 19 has affected all walks of life–no one has been spared from the wrath of the path of the spread of the virus. Small Businesses are especially taking a huge hit and the data via’s latest report surveying 80K+ Google My Business stats is verifying it.

As you can see they took a look across all metrics common to digital marketing and SEO–clicks for directions, website, calls, and overall impressions.

Overall, the GMB Impressions were down close to 60% month over month.

No Region was spared

It was painful across every sector of the US, and truthfully the entire market conditions around the world have been affected.

No industry spared.

This looks specifically at direction requests and bares out the results of ‘stay at home’ or ‘shelter in place’ orders or proclamations. The result was less people were going out or going to busines specific locations.
(other than the few spikes for healthcare/physicans)–which makes sense; however even these sectors saw downturns.

The Silver Lining

The good news (if we can pull some from the data) is that March to April shows that bottom flattening. We are hopeful that the bottom has flattened and as restrictions are eased in parts of the country. The fear that has gripped our Nation will be removed and we’ll see improvements across all sectors shortly.
